3. Be Grateful: Take Inventory of All That You Have vs. What You Have Not

What’s that saying? “You can’t see the forest for the trees.” Exactly!

Take a look at the whole photograph, not just in part. We become what we focus on and what we put our time plus energy into. I haven’t met a soul alive who has everything all together, the pictures just aren’t perfect.

My moment of encouragement: I check my publishing platform a few times a week to monitor my books’ movement. The transparent truth is that some days there is no movement at all while other days several copies have moved. What never changes within me on either day is my desire and enjoyment for writing. I came into work this morning and a colleague of mine treks it to my cube to tell me she purchased a copy of my book…not even my latest release but #CatchingFeelings …my debut novel. As usual I squealed?. But do you know why? Because darn it that book is soooo good. I’m humble yes, but the book is a great read that’s just the truth and that’s what the reviews say as well. So to every classmate, family member, stranger and friend who purchased Catching Feelings or Dear Aryah, THANK YOU! Yes it’s nice to get a royalty payment at the end of each cycle but its also very rewarding to see reviews of readers who have absolutely enjoyed the book, that is the best part for me! When this book debuted I never expected readers to inbox me explaining how they identified with a particular character or how one of the story lines helped them. I was floored but definitely blessed that a reality fiction novel would resonate with readers like that. This month (July 22nd to be exact) marks the date four years ago that this book was released.
